Born in Upper Austria in 1981 and raised in Pabneukirchen, a small town in the countryside of Upper Austria, Katrin Stefanie Weidhofer moved to Vienna in 1999.

She studied theater, film and media at the University of Vienna and graduated with a Master of Arts. After a number of smaller off-space exhibitions, she attended the Salzburg International Academy of Fine Arts (class of Christoph Draeger, “The Age of Collage”) in 2012. Since 2013, Katrin S. Weidhofer is studying at the UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED ARTS VIENNA (Die Angewandte) in the department of fine arts (painting), lead by Prof Emma Rendl-Denk and Prof Henning Bohl (since 2014).

Katrin S. Weidhofer began early with drawings and paintings. In 2001, she started to experiment extensively with mixed media, using all kinds of materials from metal and paper to other physical accessories. She frequently destroyed many of her early paintings by cutting them into pieces and started to re-order them in themselves. This is how the collage became her technical domain of interest, with drawings and mixed media still being a central element of her work.
